Take a stroll overlooking the ocean and admire the colorful interior of Catholic Motomachi Church, a serene place of worship founded by French missionaries. Originally built in 1877, the current-day neo-Gothic building with its towering 33 m (108 ft) white belfry dates back to 1924. Light passing through stained glass windows gives a colorful, spiritual feel to the interior, which features a magnificent altar donated by the pope. Check the schedule of this church--one of the oldest in Japan--as you can't enter during ceremonies and services.
