Yatai, Fukuoka
(1.9/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Take your pick from what's on offer at Yatai, a riverside collection of food stalls. Beginning in the early post-war era, this type of food market has become central to the culinary and cultural life on Kyushu, with this particular strip of bustling outdoor eateries among the best known locally and with tourists. Stroll down the busy little strip of mobile kitchens, grabbing a seat on one of the narrow benches to sample a warm bowl of ramen, freshly battered tempura, and a few glasses of beer or sake. Use our Fukuoka trip itinerary maker to arrange your visit to Yatai and other attractions in Fukuoka.
