Ohori Park, Fukuoka

4.3
Wander between ponds and islands connected by elegant stone bridges at Ohori Park, once the site of a moat for a nearby castle whose ruins still lay nearby. Also within walking distance, Fukuoka Art Museum sits at the park's southeast corner. Young families frequent the serene park, where children can explore a number of playgrounds and befriend the local animal life, which includes turtles and birds. Buy feed for the ducks and fish at a kiosk near the river. • Can walk, run or even in the cycling and the goon feels good. May be chilly and windy but Sun appears where it is warm.

  • It's a secluded Park. If you go in the evening, you can see a great night. Japan garden are places. It's a good idea to sit down and relax to the trip to Starbucks.

  • We went out to the children and dog walkers. Holiday and crowded with family as much. Or running, playing in a sandbox, or tea at Starbucks wanted to relax.

  • Beautiful park. Easy to walk around the whole park and the lake. Lots of birds to see, tortoises, and giant koi fishes in the lake. Easy to from the subway as the exits are clearly marked. Stone benches around the lake for a nice picnic. 2 locations of vending machines around the lake for a quick drink. Busy playground on a Sunday but looks like a lot of fun for the kids.
  • Wonderful sight ideal for a stroll, picnic or bike ride, alone or friends and family. Exceptionally beautiful during cherry blossom season. Definitely worth the stop!
  • Great park to wonder around with cafes close by and on the premises too. Beautiful structures/sculptures around the park. You can also feed the turtles in the ponds. This was my favourite part. Also have paddle things which you can hire.
  • A beautiful city park with a two kilometre cushioned running/walking path around the park which is great, the path is also around a lake which has a path across with a pretty pagoda style gazebo and a small wooded area, where you might see people practising Taichi chi or even the trumpet. There are many great photo spots and a lot of people walking and jogging, as well as many dogs (which must be leashed). There is a reasonably discreet Starbucks with WiFi (A plus or minus - your preference I know). There are close by museums and a venue which has occasional art and culture exhibitions. There are summer fireworks held here , the park is busy and hot, the quality fireworks make it worthwhile. There are some good cheap hotels nearby which make this an ideal base for sightseeing in Fukuoka.
  • Lots of big koi fish and turtles along with birds to check out there in Fukuoka. I don't remember but it would have been cool if you could swim in there.

Where to stay in Fukuoka

As the largest city on the island, a hub of commerce, transport, and tourism, and a base for exploration of the wider region, Fukuoka offers plenty of accommodations to choose from. The most established hotels lie in Chuo Ward, the district closest to the port and on the western bank of the Naka River. Standard and luxury options abound in the this area and surrounding districts, offering a range of additional facilities to suit all tastes and budgets. Budget-conscious travelers will be pleased to find hostels and guesthouses throughout the city, but again, primarily in this central area.
