  • It was ranked as the second best thing to do in Fukuoka but it is over evaluated. Nice and calm place where a few Japanese pray but I am not sure if it is different from any jinja i can find in Japan.  more »

Now and I don't think this is by the sea was the edge of Kawabata shopping street, Canal front, Nakasu edge and hustle and bustle is covered, even though air is different here. Entering the grounds still further, so relieved and I wanted to touch on the occasion, visit. Is also referred to as mountain Chase best seen here this year chasing the mountain at this point is people many moved too much from the first is more watched in the Gion near Reisen-Cho.

  • Beautiful temple. Buddhist chants during a ceremony sounded lovely. Some temporary construction made picture-taking a challenge but the amazing festival dashi was on display.
  • Come here right in the morning of hakata dontaku 2017. Very lively place, accompanied by taiko drum rolling, the parade took place also. Recommended
  • huge shrine. peaceful place. great for prayers and visitation.
  • This is the famous shrine in Fukuoka. Always crowded with worshiper. Very near kamikawabatamchi shopping street which is sort of good , food and Japanese traditional souvenirs and known as tourist center , also near Canal city.
  • sacred and peaceful. I left before the July "山笠" festival started. But still can feel the passion of the folks

Where to stay in Fukuoka

As the largest city on the island, a hub of commerce, transport, and tourism, and a base for exploration of the wider region, Fukuoka offers plenty of accommodations to choose from. The most established hotels lie in Chuo Ward, the district closest to the port and on the western bank of the Naka River. Standard and luxury options abound in the this area and surrounding districts, offering a range of additional facilities to suit all tastes and budgets. Budget-conscious travelers will be pleased to find hostels and guesthouses throughout the city, but again, primarily in this central area.
