Fukuoka Tower, Fukuoka

3.7
The tallest seaside structure of its kind in the country, Fukuoka Tower pierces the sky like a needle and offers an unobstructed vantage point for views over the city. Pay a visit to the futuristic 234 m (768 ft) tall tower and admire its distinctive design, which features a triangular cross-section and 8,000 mirrors covering its surface. Go up to one of the tower's three observation decks, the highest of which reaches 123 m (404 ft), for sweeping views of the surrounding town, the mountains to the east, and the Sea of Genkai. At the second deck, you can even kick back with a bite to eat or a drink at the cafe. Make Fukuoka Tower part of your personalized Fukuoka itinerary using our Fukuoka trip builder tool .

  • I went to Fukuoka Tower 100 road Beach to visit. I leave some pictures of both. It's now the Fukuoka Tower. Valentine was lit up that season. When entering in the great procession. Has decided to go on certainly wait for 70 minutes I saw it and was just foreigners, so Japan is totally unheard.

  • Illumination changes each season. Watch the lights from falling down day after day up to the Fukuoka Tower observation deck, which I appreciated, is recommended. The shop is limited until the sun goes down, so try to take. However, since wind is always strong, cold day warm clothing is best.

  • In February day here doing nothing. Top overlooks the bare trees. You can make beautiful pictures of the original mirrored towers, but it's better to come here as dusk. In the dark here glowing trees and towers will look prettier.

  • Good place to catch the skyline of Fukuoka. Scene would be better in spring/summer months. 640 Yen for adults, while children go up for 320 Yen. Its the 3rd tallest tower in Japan, and its more than 100m above ground level. The love locks section where you can pen love notes is 1 floor below the viewing deck, and its 1000 Yen per lock. There is no toilet up there so remember to empty your bladders before heading up.
  • Located in front of the beach. Public transit is available. Fukuoka Museum, the City library and science centre are just minutes away. Beautiful beach front. An ideal place for family especially in summer. Admission is very reasonable.
  • Beautiful tower. There is a lineup but it's not very long. The night view of Fukuoka is absolutely stunning. They have a designated area for couples. Great place for photography. There's Christmas light outside the tower. Parking is hard to find.
  • During the winter, there is illumination around the Tower. But, be careful. The wind is strong and it is really cold. You can also going up to the observatory deck if you want to see Fukuoka from the top. There is beach near the tower if you want watch sunset.
  • A good place to visit. Great view of Fukuoka. Interesting architecture for a tower. Looks more like an office building with an antenna. As with anywhere in Japan...the staff is friendly. The lover's deck is a little cheesy in my opinion. Not a whole lot to do once you see the view.

Where to stay in Fukuoka

As the largest city on the island, a hub of commerce, transport, and tourism, and a base for exploration of the wider region, Fukuoka offers plenty of accommodations to choose from. The most established hotels lie in Chuo Ward, the district closest to the port and on the western bank of the Naka River. Standard and luxury options abound in the this area and surrounding districts, offering a range of additional facilities to suit all tastes and budgets. Budget-conscious travelers will be pleased to find hostels and guesthouses throughout the city, but again, primarily in this central area.
