  • Subway ride. Long climb through residential area. Many, many stairs. The closer we got to the top of the hill, the climb changed from walking through (very) hilly residential streets to climbing stair...  more »
  • Very nice place to take pictures of Fukuoka. Although it is away from the city center, access is reasonably easy and cheap via the Subway (Airport line, Muromi Stn. The shrine is located on a hill wit...  more »
  • ATAGO shrine, muromi Metro's station. After getting off, across the bridge program, go to the ATAGO. And along the way there are steep up shrine Torii, a further staircase to its destination, finally arrived to the shrine. Vehicles can go to the front of the gate, but that walk movie will feel that sense of accomplishment and the indescribably and tough by the end of the coming God. ATAGO shrine itself is so big, but views from the main side is best. Is most beautiful at night, morning and afternoon, overlooking the Fukuoka City. Year-end and new year holidays, pretty many people, is in the movie I think you'd better take a turn on, so pretty taken well in advance of the time.

  • Nice simple view of the city from the top. Good walk up and down to get some exercise.
  • Awe inspiring view! The shrine is immaculately clean and presentable. If you have an issue with stairs, accessibility may be an issue, otherwise, fantastic place. Highly recommended!
  • The place where I am healed. The most holy place.
  • Best view up hill on Fukuoka from this shrine! A must see ! The view on Fukuoka from this shrine is simply amazing. The shrine itself is ok, it looked in renovation or something. I really enjoy the view there and I think it’s the best view on Fukuoka, you can see almost everywhere from up there. I don’t know if actually many tourists know this place, by its worth it for the view into my opinion. To reach this shrine up the hill, exit at subway station Muromi.
  • Are enshrined in the mounds of about 135 meters. Lord Kuroda and co cordially, became well known as Mt. Atago, but surprisingly, the original dates back to the emperor. Is earlier than age Himiko lived. Coastline at that time was probably under the Torii ⛩ around here I think. Still, there are clearly carved by wave erosion marks is because (pictured). You can also marked with signs ago the war was climbing cable car, but still see traces of the station to the Summit (photo). Weapons used in war, forced faded cable was also Miyajima (see Miyajima). From telling the miracles of the ancient art of the rabbit of the niece Beach Station and wave, starting point to the continent, and the departure of ATAGO niece Beach, Odo difference power spot from WA. Or represent it to the approach appears shadow of the Hare (pictured). Feel the power.

Where to stay in Fukuoka

As the largest city on the island, a hub of commerce, transport, and tourism, and a base for exploration of the wider region, Fukuoka offers plenty of accommodations to choose from. The most established hotels lie in Chuo Ward, the district closest to the port and on the western bank of the Naka River. Standard and luxury options abound in the this area and surrounding districts, offering a range of additional facilities to suit all tastes and budgets. Budget-conscious travelers will be pleased to find hostels and guesthouses throughout the city, but again, primarily in this central area.
