Enoshima Shrine, Fujisawa

3.9
A complex of three temples dedicated the goddess of knowledge, Enoshima Shrine dates back to the 5th century and remains one of the area's major Shinto sites. You'll have to climb steep stairs to reach the shrines, so wearing comfortable shoes is advised. The view from the top makes the uphill trek worthwhile--take a moment to soak in the views of the sea and contemplate the long history of this sacred place. • In the middle of the stairs a bit steep red Torii gate, Rui mind gate looks beyond that. One of the three great benzaiten in Japan is located in such a place, one is a little surprised. Back from here which seems to last forever is the use of esukaa and easier to go up to the top. I went expecting incidentally and esukaa any vehicle or was the normal escalators.

  • Enoshima is one gorgeous shrine. Red is often used, so vivid and match with the fresh green and taking pictures and fun. Is pulled by eight fortune, luck Fortune 2 people, otherwise no evil or flab and good luck!

  • The Kamakura period after from dedicated the hitai ejima Daming God to thank you shoot rejected the Mongol emperor go-UDA "fighting God" for many Eastern warriors who worship. But during the Edo period became God of the performing arts, music, and wisdom from God of war. Then the House generations of Tokugawa Shogun who is prayed, treatment of the disease, new baby, travel safety. It is changing with the times.

  • Beautiful place. Very serene. Several views as you go higher and higher. There are several stairs to every level to get to different shrines and different areas of the island. There's an escalator for a cost to get to ascend but I don't believe I noticed an escalator to come down.
  • Beautiful place to visit. As some other people have said, there are quite a few stairs as you explore around this area but there are is also an escalator you can pay to use to continue up the hill. Views are beautiful and there are cute cats around the place. Nice day trip from Tokyo.
  • I just loved this place. This place has everything to offer as a perfect weekend gateway. A white sand beach. A little trekk. Good restaurants. Closer to Tokyo and Yokohama. Kamakura trains. Good shopping options and light house views. And off course nice temples. If you don't want to walk, one can use paid escalators. I came across many cute "cats" whenever I visited this place. Don't miss to visit Dragon caves on opposite side of climb towards sea.
  • Recommended place to visit during summer, enjoy water sports, shopping on the island and sightseeing.
  • Early Autumn and Winter mornings have the best chance to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji. Enoshima is compact yet pack a punch to do and see
