Enoshima Sea Candle, Fujisawa

4.2
#2 of 21 in Sightseeing in Fujisawa
Lighthouse Observation Deck
Take a lift or climb the spiraling stairs to the top of the 40 m (131.2 ft) Enoshima Sea Candle, where you'll experience breathtaking 360 degree vistas across the bay and city. On a clear day you'll be afforded some of the best views of Mt. Fuji available, with its snow-capped, conical shape visible in the haze of the day. Not only a viewpoint, the structure still functions as a lighthouse, as well as supporting antennas providing cell phone signals. Consider a nighttime visit; aside from being recognized as the 6th best "Japan Heritage Night View," the structure lights up brilliantly, powered by solar energy collected throughout the day. • Using a 60 m-high glass vision with elevator or stairs. A 360-degree view, and no wide width stay five minutes or so.

  • Great view and pretty at either day or night. Gardens are cute and waffle Cafe nearby serves fantastic waffle desserts. A great place to wrap up a day trip to the area.
  • Good view and eagles. The climb to it is moderately hard, but for a few hundred yen one can use the escalators.
  • It's a nice activity for a couple of hours. Probably very nice with clear weather.
  • Best observation deck in Kanto. A beautiful view of the Shonan coast, the ocean, the mountains including Mt. Fuji on a clear day, and of course the island itself. Much better than the city towers where every direction gives you the same view.
  • Cheap place too see. Beautiful few of the bay and City. Take good walking shoes. Thousands of steps. Well worth the climb and exercise.

Where to stay in Fujisawa

Most tourists only pass through the city of Fujisawa on the way to its popular Enoshima island, where accommodation options include a number of hotels, inns, and traditional Japanese ryokans. Most of the island's lodgings lie beachside or scattered around the waterfront area. If you choose to stay in Fujisawa proper, you'll find several mid-range and budget friendly hotels situated near the railway station.
