Listen to the pleasant melodies of music boxes at Kawaguchiko Music Forest, a museum dedicated to automated musical instruments from around the globe. Hear a range of different musical genres performed by antique music boxes, and mechanical organs in richly decorated halls, designed to look like luxurious European banquet halls from the Victorian era. Learn about the musical devices and their particular cultural importance during the times before recorded sound. The grounds display manicured lawns and a picturesque canal, all leading up to an extensive view of Mount Fuji across the lake. Where to stay in Fujikawaguchiko-machi

The lakeside resort town of Fujikawaguchiko-machi offers a great variety accommodations, reflective of the diverse reasons people have for visiting the town. Some simple guesthouses and hostels dot the more modest streets of the main urban areas, while more upmarket, resort-style hotels with "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) are located close to the lake, or sit in privileged positions just out of town. Campsites and inns in the surrounding rural areas provide particularly good options for those just wanting to get up Mount Fuji.

  • I like this place. It's serene and really cute. Another view of Mt. Fuji and stuff. They have the organ show which was definitely creepy, but it was cool... but just creepy to me at least but everyone...  more »

  • European landscaping and buildings. Fantastic spot for photographing with Mt Fuji in the background with trees, ponds and houses in the foreground. Lots of historical musical boxes from Germany and Europe Great performances including automated musical boxes with opera singing. Not to be missed is the live snow white story presentation using sand art and played by accompanying live music in the music hall. After 5pm, price reduced to 400 yen but may not have so many performances. Try to ask your hotel for discounted tickets from 1500 yen to reduced price of 1200 yen.
  • Surprisingly you can do a lot here. There's a music show, an opera show, there's a painting area, a music box museum, there's a marble machine, bells with different notes, a musical clock (like in Pinocchio). It's fun, and great place to bring kids.
  • The place is very beautiful. The flowers and the arrangement is wonderful. They have many events throughout the day to enjoy. Bring a camera as you can get a picture of mount Fuji on a clear day.
  • Good collection of music machines and performances. Women get to dress up as Princess for a price. Worth checking out if in the area
  • One of the tourist spot in kawaguchiko area (fuji five lakes). Not the best spot though. But it is okay.
