Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi, Chuo

4.0
#36 of 248 in Shopping in Tokyo
The first thing you'll notice entering Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi, the highly regarded up-market department store, is its marble grandeur and a huge, ornate sculpture dominating the ground floor. From here you can explore seven floors of traditional Japanese goods, from kimonos to bonsai trees. The basement floor's food hall serves as the mall's main drawcard, stocking an array of candies and a huge variety of sushi, sashimi, and onigiri. Be sure to work your way up the building through the high fashion, homewares, and art departments, to the roof, where you'll find garden wares and pet accessories. • It was just the same Japan bridge ever speaking of compound in a department store Takashimaya Department store. However 0/2016 (2016) finally designated important cultural properties. Is aligned with rival Takashimaya Department store in which seems to be overjoyed. Mitsukoshi mods reiterated why the designated? And wondered. Be adopted, from the first floor to the fifth floor stairwell "Central Hall" is a pioneering design space in the stained glass ceiling, massive Mitsukoshi theatre and special dining guide Miss kimono Mitsukoshi reasons. Angel statue in the stairwell is a shoot OK.

  • A large department store with a good food court in the 1st and 2nd basement. With German bread and German sausages (if you even got homesick). The sale of bonsai on the roof terrace is exciting

  • A piece of history. Considering how old the department store it is in good shape. Worth taking a stroll through if in the area.
  • After visiting the Branch in Epcot over the years, i decided to visit the main branch in Nihonbashi. This store is for people with what we refer to in the states as a 6 figure income. Mitsukoshi is full of history and legacy, and will not disappoint. If you happen to enjoy shopping at stores like Bloomingdales you are sure to enjoy Mitsukoshi. Needless to say the Epcot store isn't even a good representation of what Mitsukoshi is; and pales in comparison.
  • The luxurious branded department store. Lots of variety. Awesome products. Lovely building.
  • Mitsukoshi is a great department store with great food options. Shop and Dine all in one place right next to the Metro station.
  • An old fashion department store in Nihombashi. Go to the rooftop floor and see the beautiful Bonsai collection.

Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
