  • Beautiful old house with lovely gardens! You can't actually go into the garden but viewing it from the different rooms is still relaxing. There are rotating exhibitions in the storehouses and local crafts sold in the gift shop. Free parking!
  • What I heard was that the Ishitani family was the richest family around town who built this residence and flourished the whole Chizu region as one of the largest Shubuka. The place itself is pretty impressive, considering how long it has been around and how proper it has been kempt. As you walk inside, you can hear the floorboards creaking. You will also realise the interior is colder than the exterior, which was puzzling. If you enjoy museum visits, you'd probably enjoy this.

  • Early 20th c. traditional house built by Chizu's leading merchant family. Having made their fortune in forestry, they built their house with superb timber-work. It's a large house with impressive gardens. Well worth a visit.
  • Modern Japanese-style architecture in Chizu-juku in Chizu-cho, Hachizu-gun, Tottori Prefecture. It is designated as an important cultural property of the country. The number of rooms was 40 and the storehouse counted seven, and it was completed in 1928. The main house stands south as the front. The well-maintained garden trees and gardens with ponds where the carp swim gracefully are also registered as a national scenic place, and the house's creation gives you a sense of nostalgia somewhere old-fashioned. The characteristic sag of the earthen floor and the demon tile. In addition, forestry crafts and historical materials are displayed in each storehouse after Chizu Town.
