Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou, Chiyoda

#1 of 883 in Fun & Games in Japan
There's an unusual friend waiting to hang out with you over at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou. Yes, owls of various shapes and sizes perch patiently here, ready to be held and petted. Much like Tokyo's popular cat cafes, in which the every day stresses of city life melt away in the company of a friendly creature, here you'll get an hour-long session with a room full of owls. As ambient mood music plays away from the neon lit, busy streets, you can move from owl to owl, aquainting yourself with the various breeds, and interacting with them in this novel establishment. Be aware that the owls may sometimes make a mess on you (which the staff will do their best to clean up), so consider wearing something you don't mind getting a little dirty. Planning Tokyo trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

  • Located not far from Akihabara station. It is abit pricey (2000yen per person) but it was fun and relaxing with the owls. Overall, a fun activity among the usual hectic sightseeing.  more »

  • I visited this owl cafe because of all the good reviews I've seen online. I'm so happy to say that the place really exceeded my expectations! Firstly, the place was very easy to find as clear picture instructions were provided in the email in leading us there. Secondly, the two staffs that attended to us were extremely friendly. From the way they handled the owls, I could tell that the owls were treated with a lot of care and respect. All the owls had their own charm and I love the descriptions of them that was found in a booklet provided. I got to hold Cherry Tomato and she was so, so adorable! Felt a little sad to part with her when the session was over but it was time well-spent. We also got to take home with us a picture we took with the owls which was really a pleasant surprise. I'd definitely recommend others to visit this cafe and also would love to go back there again the next time I visit Japan.
  • Went to Japan and brought my family to this owl cafe was a really best choice. We finally got to experience and see all the different kind of owls. Highlight of our trip as we were so excited to meet the owl and it didn’t disappoint us at all! I really recommend this place for owl lovers out there. The staff are really nice and friendly too. Ambience is really chill. Highly recommended!
  • Akiba Fukurou was one of the best experiences in Tokyo. It was a nice getaway for an hour from the busy city...WITH OWLS. Although it's called cafe it does not actually have drinks. My experiences of other animal cafes didn't really leave time to enjoy the drinks anyways so I was okay with it. The Owls are so cute to look at and the staff was incredibly friendly. They made sure both owls and customers were comfortable which was very nice. They really care for the owls and do not over work them or force them out of their comfort zone. I would recommend any animal lovers to visit this place. Just be respectful of the owls and staff and you will have a great time.
  • What a lovely experience! I had a fantastic time at the owl cafe. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the owls were well behaved and super cute. All in a relaxing atmosphere with a small enough group of people. I would recommend this place to everyone who visits Tokyo.
  • Went to Japan recently and reserved this place with 2 of my other buddies. One of the coolest experiences we had there. Easy to locate and once inside we were allowed to touch certain owls and even let sit on our arm. They made sure both the customers and owls were comfortable and even took a souvenir photo for us which was really cool. We were allowed to take as many of our own photos as we liked so all in all it was a very fun time and would recommend to others to try at least once.
