There's an unusual friend waiting to hang out with you over at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou. Yes, owls of various shapes and sizes perch patiently here, ready to be held and petted. Much like Tokyo's popular cat cafes, in which the every day stresses of city life melt away in the company of a friendly creature, here you'll get an hour-long session with a room full of owls. As ambient mood music plays away from the neon lit, busy streets, you can move from owl to owl, aquainting yourself with the various breeds, and interacting with them in this novel establishment. Be aware that the owls may sometimes make a mess on you (which the staff will do their best to clean up), so consider wearing something you don't mind getting a little dirty. Planning Tokyo trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

Me and my wife visited the owl cafe on Valentine's Day and it was an amazing experience. There are so many owls to see and you can take pictures of them and with them. You can hold a maximum of 2 owls... more »
This Owl Cafe was the best of our trip. It was a awesome experience to be so close to the owls. The two persons in charge of the Owl Cafe were amazing. They know the owls' characteristics. Mr. Preside... more »
We had a great time at Akiba Fukurou. The owls all seem well cared for and healthy. Each person gets to hold 2 owls during the hour, and after being held the owl goes "on break" so that it doesn't get tired out being held by too many people. You are also allowed to gently pet them on the head. Overall this was a unique experience, highly recommended.
Lovely place. Owls are well taken care of. They only allow small groups and alone interaction with the owls is allowed too. You get a photo with an owl sitting on you. Also, soft classical music in the background. Would go again.
I'm a huge fan of owls and this cafe was the loveliest place to go to see them. You got to pick two of the gorgeous owls to interact with (you could touch them all, but you only got to hold two of them) and take some really cute pictures with them. Orange Sherbet (one of the owls I picked) was even trained to come fly to my arm (they gave him a little treat for being so well behaved). My favorite part though, has to be how well the owls and their well-being is cared for in this cafe. You can tell the staff is passionate about their animals
If you are looking to do something unique during your visit to Tokyo, this is the place to visit. I have seen many captive birds of prey in bird sanctuaries and displays, but I have never had the opportunity to hold and to stroke one. All of the birds are beautiful, well behaved, and obviously very well taken care of. ‘My owl’ was Mr President. What a handsome boy and a real character. Thoroughly recommended!
Please make a reservation. They get very busy. Cash only too. 2000 yen per person is very reasonable. They explain the rules. Pics only no videos. You have about 45 mins to play with owls which is plenty time. The owls are so pretty and friendly. The main photographer is taking pics the entire time. Then at the end they choose the best picture of you, print it out, laminate it, then give it to you as their gift. Great experience, staff very nice and helpful, and owls were so beautiful. Have nothing negative to say about our time there. Please visit them.
