  • Permanent collection - waste of time. Small and sad. But we enjoyed National museum of Western Art in Ueno Park.Permanent collection is not big, but good + Caravaggio now.
  • A middling permanent collection with a few stand out pieces, rather small for a national MOMA, but definitely worth a visit, and the location is unbeatable. Visitors are actually encouraged to take photos which is refreshing. Dining options are fairly limited.
  • One of several museums and other attractions located in Kitanomaru Park just across the moat from the Imperial Palace, MOMAT displays an extensive collection spread out over three floors, and is well worth a visit for those with an interest in art. The collection focuses mainly on Japanese modern art from around 1900 through the 1950s and 1960s, although they have a small section of more contemporary art.
  • Pretty cool museum
  • Fairly uninspiring galleries of mid-early century art with a couple contemporary exhibitions.
