#2 of 9 in Nature in Chino
Water Body Nature / Park
High up in the Japanese hills sits Lake Shirakaba-ko, an artificial lake found on a plateau between two mountains at 1,416 m (4,646 ft) above sea level. Take time to unwind and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and green forests that fill your view as you take a leisurely stroll or as you sit on one of the many benches along the water's edge. You can hire pedal boats and navigate across the water. If you look towards the middle of the lake, notice a small fountain made of rocks stacked upon each other. Plan your Lake Shirakaba-ko visit and explore what else you can see and do in Chino using our Chino travel itinerary planner.

  • I think summer retreat in the winter as a ski resort ago tourists was crowded with. Lakeside has many accommodations, and many are in ruins. I also took a boat watching the fresh green in sight of ruins and indescribably loneliness.

Where to stay in Chino

Chino itself possesses a few accommodations, most of them unfussy hotels with onsite communal bathhouses (using geothermal waters, a real draw of the area), located close to the main train station. Many opt instead to stay at Suwa to the north, where lakeside lodgings are a little more upmarket and well maintained. Alternatively, visitors to Chino choose to stay to the east of the main city center, where hot spring resorts sit in secluded, scenic locations in the highland areas.
