American Village, Chatan-cho

Find a bit of the good old U-S-A at American Village, an extensive entertainment complex containing restaurants, shops, theaters, and more catering to the large American military presence on the island. Pay a visit to this North American-style outdoor mall and explore its wide avenues surrounded by palm trees and outdoor patios. Shop at a variety of stores offering big-name international brands, see the latest blockbuster at the theater, or kick back with a bite to eat or a drink at one of the many restaurants within the mall. You'll find plenty of buildings outfitted in styles reminiscent of the Wild West, California, and other famous American locales. A towering Ferris Wheel allows you to enjoy a bird's-eye view over the complex. Plan my Chatan-cho trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • Here is by car from Naha, Okinawa 2 hours away went to the North. It is better so I went with the rental car parking lot is go rent a car! The appearance cannot be easily seen in Japan as an American atmosphere. The shops grocery store in Okinawa but not all day long and there are lots of restaurants, no problem! You can also see the beautiful sunset after sunset and spend until the evening at the American village is found next door to go!

  • The great American shopping town in Okinawa do not expect spirited ... I'm not quite so many side pub and shop. In the evening, sunset and beautiful note you! If the beach side justified the schedule of free coffee at a café and think it would be great to have a drink. 100 yen shop under a Ferris wheel, and Imperial, which drug store shopping if there are acceptable. Being the tax free store is affordable and spacious. But international Street is in the Imperial road was a similar price range. If you dare to buy a nose at all here unconditionally!! This is not, I think. Starbucks stores, so Okinawa City to buy Blue Seal ice cream meringue and he ate 1 and a half hours is the caliber.

  • Guidebook to be introduced without falling into place unless you're specifically shopping appears to be no need to go. To buy a souvenir, to buy gifts which do not need to come. Most airport duty free shop could have bought in.

  • This place isn't anything amazing. It has a few restaurants and a few cheap shops The beach is nice and the bowling is a good price. The ferries wheel wasn't running but maybe that is just the season we went to it. I also felt the village had a weird atmosphere.
  • So-so place. Can drop by to take a look if you’ve extra time on your trip. Otherwise, it’s ok to skip this too. Be careful not to park your car within any fenced area! These areas will be closed after 8pm and your car won’t be able to leave the compound. Park at the unfenced places near to the shops!
  • Not as American as I hoped it would be but it’s a nice shopping village....check out Blue seal ice cream and the Mexican restaurants. Really good food. There are lots of little stores that sell cute trinkets for less than ¥200. Great hang out spot.
  • This is another side of Japan! You will feel that you’re not in Japan because of the people and building there. You can also find various kind of souvenirs such as Beniimo tart. It was wonderful places!
  • Place is really nice. But somehow it doesn't really have a Japanese feel to it. Perhaps it's great for the local Americans, but as a tourist, I feel it needs a bit Japanese touch somehow.
