#16 of 254 in Parks in Tokyo
Meander through the pleasantly arranged paths of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo Garden, a green oasis in the middle of town, offering a range of historical and natural sites. Named for its abundance of wild camellias, the traditional Japanese garden was created during the Meiji period, with Emperor Meiji himself said to have held a number of important meetings in the house that once stood on the grounds. Historical monuments from across the country have been placed throughout the garden, including a thousand-year-old pagoda, over 30 stone lanterns, and a wealth of Taoist and Buddhist images. • I went to conciliation, chinzan-so. Here the garden is very respectable and visit once in a while. Just stroll and feel elegant. Can walk free of grounds also in the building, but it is recommended.

  • Great hotel located in a residential district of Tokyo and nestled in a beautiful garden. Excellent service, upscale eateries and convenient location (Metro station at 15 minutes walk). Recommended

  • Is a remnant of the old Yamagata Yes, House Garden. Because of the hotel's Garden, who enjoyed the garden free of charge. Is your garden there are ups and downs, views from different angles.

  • Myself and my friend had the most amazing time staying at Hotel Chinzanso. From the moment that we arrived we were warmly welcomed by staff, throughout the stay they continued to impress us with their attention to detail and helpfulness. The hotel facilities were great, from the beautiful garden to the spa and a number of excellent restaurants. The hotel room had the most spectacular view of the garden and the room itself was beautifully decorated. Its one of the best hotel that I've ever stayed in and couldn't recommend it more.
  • If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best prices around... I haven't stayed in this hotel, only been to the restaurants for lunch and the after tea a few times. Excellent food. More than the food, however, I always enjoy a lot the walk in the garden. There are people who come just to see the garden. Entrance to the garden is free. This hotel was the Four Seasons for some years. It's the Chinzanso back again, but at least from what I can see, besides the name nothing has changed.
  • A beautiful, secluded hotel! Great service. Only complaint would be the location, which it's a bit hard to find on foot. Take a taxi!
  • The 17 acre Chinzanso Garden at the Chinzanso Tokyo Hotel was one of our stops on the Hato Bus Dynamic Tokyo tour. We arrived for a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, a view of the spectacular garden, and a traditional Japanese BBQ at the Miyuki a two star Michelin restaurant. The garden has many walking paths and was designed by Yasuzaemon Matsunaga in 1954, It is bordered by many wonderful Bonsai trees, some more than 500 year old. Our host was well skilled in the performance art of the traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony. It was a very Zen like experience as our host led us through a serene 7 minute performance of graceful movement. As part of our Hato Bus tour we were treated to a traditional Japanese BBQ on a stone grill at the Miyuki, a two star Michelin restaurant in the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. The black stone cooking surface came from Mt. Fuji. Our appetites grew as we watched, heard and smelled the aroma rising from the sizzling grill. Tres Yum!!
  • Very nice big room (paid for it). Other than its firefly season, won't stay at this location again. Grand, expensive and nothing much outside its garden, mainly expensive residential area.

Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
