Ken & Mary Tree, Biei-cho
(3.2/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
A giant, 80-year-old poplar tree made famous by a 1972 Nissan ad campaign, Ken & Mary Tree stands alone in a mustard field against rolling hills and vast fields. Named after two characters in the commercial, the tree stands out as a landmark of Biei region, and even gives its name to a nearby bed and breakfast. Bizarre for most outsiders as a tourist attraction, the location makes a nice stopover if you are driving in the area. You can reach the famous poplar in 10 minutes by car from Biei railway station, or rent a bicycle at the station. Add Ken & Mary Tree and other attractions to your Biei-cho trip itinerary using our Biei-cho tour planner.

  • This is the wood once used in COMMERCIALS for "skyline". I think honest guidebook is located about 10 minutes by car from biei station, taking in hand and do not know well. Look closely and see Ah! "That was the feeling. It is difficult to find because it's too far of no?.
