Blue pond, Biei-cho
(4.1/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Rather obviously named after its deep blue color, Blue pond originally served as part of an erosion control system essential to protecting Biei from a potential Mount Tokachidake eruption. Located next to the hot spring destination Shirogane Onsen, this site provides visitors with a scenic place to walk and take photos. It takes less than ten minutes to walk through the wooded area and arrive at this body of water. • The Blue Pond is a good brief stopover and during our visit certainly lived up to its reputation. It was fairly crowded even in low season and it might be line ball whether you braved big crowds durin...  more »
  • And ends Lavender just got Furano Lavender fields in about an hour and a half by rental car from Hokkaido Chitose Airport for the first time, there was a late bloomer. But other flower garden is beautiful and happy! Lavender soft serve ice cream was delicious. From the flower garden can move 20 minutes blue pond. From the parking lot near the pond you can enjoy while walking. It's way too easy to walk.

  • Perhaps we were spoilt. The blue water in the northern part of Honshu is natural, crystal clear and stunning. The water of the blue pond is concreted in by dam walls, and was cloudy making the water closer to torquoise then blue. It may have been caused by heavy rain but we were far from impressed by this attraction. Do yourself a favour and get to the national park just south of Aomori!
  • When I visit the pond, the weather is cloudy. I believe if the weather is good, the colour of the pond will be better. If time is not enough, I don't think it is must visit spot.
  • Nice pond. Not worth going. Nothing much
  • It was late when we arrive. So took some pics of the pond. A piry the pond was not well maintained n appeared dirty...took a few pics n we left
