One of the most interesting places I visited in Tokyo. Must visit if in search of any kind of fabric. Its a long street with hundreds of shops. Can easily spend a day exploring it. Can download and take it's map with you to skip any shops you're not interested in as in category wise as I skipped most of curtain fabric and leather shops. Besides fabric there are accessories shops selling huge variety of laces, threads, buttons etc. Again, its great if you're a hobbyist.

Not only is this a great area to find fabric and notions, it's also a great place to find some good deals on clothes and shoes for both adults and children. Easily accessible on the Yamanote line or by quite a few bus lines from multiple aresa, such as Asakusa and Ikebukuro.

Anything you need for your sewing project is available here. It is easily reached on the circular Yamanote JR line, and short walking distance from Nippori station. The biggest shop is Tomato, but the other shops are also worth a visit. Most often, shops will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. Shops are also generally closed on Sundays.

I didn't have time to see many stores but tomato is cool! You should check out their 100 yen fabrics...

Expansive selection of fabrics at pretty reasonable prices by Tokyo standards. This is my first stop for any fabric needs.

Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
