  • Great views, many different types of landscape. We took the Me-akan-Onsen trail in both directions. It's not an easy hike, wether uphill or downhill. Almost 900 meters in height on just about 3.5 km t...  more »
  • Travel to Eastern entrees hyakumeizan: was female AKAN AKAN volcano climbing. Onneto shore road is closed in the aftermath of Typhoon 10, and when I visited, the climb from the [AKAN hot springs trailhead "in front of it. And predetermined course is down to piceaglehni over the AKAN Fuji, lakeside route, walking back to the AKAN hot springs. Consequently AKAN Onsen route was correct. Open Outlook after the trees covered with MOSS 2 just around the corner after the fourth case could enjoy the landscape dynamic change to the Summit. I was impressed by jumped in front of time especially at 9 if left on the edge of the crater to crater. Flowing cloud on the Summit, on the other side of the lava plateau is Lake AKAN. Beyond the crater of Mt. Fuji and the scale said that AKAN Fuji. We have to make you forget in this course two and half hours to the Summit of great taste. Reverse gone prospects on the 7th of the following "piceaglehni" course, piceaglehni expected the watch was under the road without a little disappointing. Of course in the deep forest band staff including the MOSS forest.... Also, onneto shore and down about 50 minutes to the AKAN hot springs lakeside course than I thought, the beginners came out tired I became quite a hard process.

  • The route starts next to the public and free of charge parking of the meakan onsen or meakan spa. Mount akan is a still active volcano and the highest mountain of the natural park of the same name. The ascent starts in a lush forest. The roots of the trees serve as improvised steps that allow you to go to face the steep rise. After 40 minutes of route, the landscape begins to change, the trees of turn into shrubs and roots are susituidas rocks. Shrubs can begin to enjoy the first views of the green valleys and mountains in the area and the Lake onneto. After another 40 minutes of ascent, no less demanding, the landscape of becomes more arid and begins to fade the vegetation. The rocks begin to take more reddish and blackish color and in the environment begins to smell sulfur, indicating that we are each is closer to the Summit. Along the way there are small viewpoints, which help us to enjoy the view and take a break. 45 minutes after finally got to the top. The scenery is spectacular. In the crater of the volcano several fumaroles rugen to expel gases on the bottom of the Valley have formed several lakes, all of ocher colors except one of them in crystal clear turquoise blue waters. The other side, there is another small crater, also active, which melts into the horizon with the Greens valleys and Lake akan. Certainly the effort was worth. After recharge at the Summit, started the descent which will take us time and a half and that becomes a real pessary due to the verticality of the slopes throughout the tour. All travel is properly marked with ribbons of colors in the trees/bushes or painting on rocks. The route is pretty demanding, but if you go with time can be done if you're not a mountaineer expert as there are not many "technical" or pure climbing points. In case of rain, I think is not recommended since the ground (roots and rocks) can become very slippery.
