YS Falls, Santa Cruz

(1,500+ reviews on the web)
Part of a seven-tiered cascade, YS Falls sits upon the grounds of an old sugar cane plantation. Each part of the falls has a pool to rest and swim in. Try rope swinging into the water, or opt for something faster with a zipline. You'll have a guide, and there are lifeguards present at each swimming location for peace of mind. Staff at the sight will happily photograph you, but consider bringing some cash along for tips. The site offers a gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs as well. YS Falls is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Santa Cruz Edition.

  • This place is fantastic and worth your day trip. They have a beautiful pool built with natural spring water from the falls that you can enjoy and relax. The place itself is a small hike of beauty with a few areas you can jump of a rope or small rock. There's is staff there to walk you through and show you around. The cost per person was $19 USD and they take VISA. I also recommend bringing water shoes it will make experience much better walking around the falls. I booked my trip with Michael Renny's excursions. Michael stayed with us the entire time which was lovely. He showed us around looked after our things and felt safe. Really recommend him if your looking for someone professional and reasonable price.
  • Infinitely better and more peaceful than Dunns Falls. After the tractor ride to the falls, you can head up to the waterfalls themselves with a guide, use a rope swing in to the deeper parts of the falls and get a back massage from the faster flowing sections. After that, there are 2 pools to relax in (one cold, one warm through solar heating) with deck chairs and the sun. There is a fair amount of wildlife (dragonflies, birds, the occasional hummingbird and bats) to enjoy whilst chilling and it's generally much quieter there than Dunns falls. The guides for the waterfalls expect a tip after they've taken you round, US$5 is fine.
  • Great place for a family outing. Loved the falls and the aumbience provided by nature.
