Cruise the popular Rio Grande on a bamboo raft while surrounded by tropical habitat. Originally rafts were used to transport produce from the interior of the island, but today they are used as a popular tourist activity. You'll get a good feel for the river as your raft captain paddles you through gentle rapids for about two and a half hours. You can take a break at a local food shack, or cool off and have a swim in the river. • We took a rafting trip here and as it was the slower season in Sept there was not even 1 other raft on the river. It was absolutely fantastic. It is far less commercial that the Martha Brea and our gu...  read more »
  • For me a Grande must if one is on Jamaica, with the bamboo rafting on the Rio. It is a great experience on a CA. 7m long bamboo raft the Rio Grande down to ride. You can get an idea how they used the Bannanen on the raft had brought down the river. The trip takes ca. 1, 5-3 hours depending on how the water level in the Rio Grande. If it should begin to rain the riders have always umbrellas or if the sun burns too much you can use them as a parasol. I can only further recommendations and great trip with romantic flair.

  • This tip is amazing. It doesn't compare to that other trip on the river on the other side of the island. We were out all day it was so relaxing. We stopped for an outstanding lunch and then completed ...  read more »
  • Unplug and take a bamboo boat ride. Captain Loyd was a total professional. He knew everyone on the river and it was a tremendous way to spend a couple of hours. Make sure and stop for lunch at Miss Belinda's. One of the best meals I've ever had.
  • It has a lot of sense and things to do I would like to shear
  • Captain Albert Bates, A.K.A., Dooks, A.K.A. Ms. Bates, was the best. He took such good care of us. See you next time.
  • The Rio Grande is the best River in Jamaica to go rafting down. I have gone down all the other river rafting locations in Ja. The water is clean crystal clear and approximately 78 degrees the day we went down. There are numerous locations for you to go swimming that are very deep. There are rocks to jump off of. You could probably swim over 60% of the river. If you like swimming in clean fresh warm water it does not get any better than the Rio Grande. Half way down there is an excellent restaurant which offers the meals pictured for a very reasonable cost. Colbert's are also available at a very reasonable cost. I would recommend starting rafting from the very top. Enjoy.
