For centuries was the center of military events of Lunigiana undergoing repeated destruction and today, after several major restorations, presents itself to visitors as a classic medieval fortress with curtain wall, trapezoid-shaped, with Guelph battlements and walls projecting corner towers, loopholes, escarpments, walkway and Central keep. While devoid of furniture inside, the visit is leaving anyway.View original

Note on the fact that it was renovated and opened to the public saw the State was reduced before the work carried out. Everything is documented photographically with explanations in a Hall of the Castle. Demerit instead for total closure to the public of the Tower from which surely you would enjoy a splendid panorama. Very nice and charming village that maintains practically intact its medieval appearance apart from some buildings damaged by the modern plaster.View original
One of the most beautiful Castles in Tuscany with a spectacular view on the whole valley!
Not a castle expert but this place was beautiful, went there for a friend's wedding. the views were awesome, you can also spend the night there, but no A/C! breakfast in the morning overlooking the village fit for kings.
Amazingly beautiful place to stay near Cinque Terre. Fantastic hosts. It's magic!
Ursea1952 innocentiThe Malaspina Castle is located in Fosdinovo in Lunigiana, and is one of the best preserved manor houses in Tuscany: the origin of the current construction it can be dated accurately, certainly existed as advocacy already before 1200. Sure to Spinetta Malaspina the great and her grandson Convict you must attribute the construction of the most important part of the Castle. The fame of this construction is due to the presence of a ghost who would be at night for rooms: it would be the marchesina Bianca Maria Aloisia Malaspina, who in 15 years is madly about a young stable boy. Nothing earned him the advice, the exhortations and threats by family members to put an end to this affair. After an escape from the convent of Santa Croce del Corvo and refusal to marry the noble imposed by parents, relatives did not remain that try to suppress the scandal, killing the young groom and Bianca Maria. Legend has it that Bianca Maria was bricked together with his dog (symbol of fidelity to the guy loved) and wild boar (a symbol of rebellion against the will of the parents): since it seems that wander into the castle to let everyone know about his sad story.View original
