Vincenzo Solimene, who has been operatine since 1947 and whose family has been working for more than a century in the ceramic business, engaged the Architect Paolo Soleri to plan a building to house his new factory in 1951.

It was completed by 1954 and was called “ Ceramica Artistica Solimene”. It is one of the most significant buildings of this century, standing on solid rock in the small town of Vietri sul Mare on the Amalfitan coast, which is famous for its ancient tradition of ceramic craftmanship going back to the 15th century. Its production of crockery, floor and wall tiles, worked and painted entirely by hand, combines the use of ancient techniques, such as the use of the potter’s wheel, with the very latest in modern tecnology in order to guarantee the strength and durability of its crockery even when washed in modern dishwashers. The great versatility in the decoration, in the shapes and in the lead free glaze, which is the result of continual study and research, allows us to satisfi any customer requirement and also enables us to create new products on request. The “Ceramica Artistica Solimene” exports all over the world, and also holds exhibitions and courses for the training of young people in the art of ceramic production, thanks to the “Centro Studi D’Arte Vietrese” which holds annual courses, authorized by the Campania Region.

  • I ordered 2 months ago now from this company 3 sqm of tiles, on the order were indicated delivery times in 10/15 days. When ordering I gave 100 euros of deposit. Still today I have not received anything, I contacted them often to ask for explanations and excuses have been given different daily. Are unreliable in addition to having me subtracted the down payment. Do not let you cheat like they did with me!

  • We were seated on benches in front of the beautiful show room (is also discernible outside that it is a singular place ...). They opened reluctantly, as if there were a favor. Just got started with ways decidedly bruschi, to give directions and prohibitions ("Mrs. where does?!?", "no!" That way it will go "... BUT WHO KNOWS PEOPLE?!? THERE ARE NOT SIGNS??!!!). There are no prices displayed (apart from expensive pieces of "art") and no one to explain how it works!! By dint of ask, and answers to moans and monosyllables, you know that almost all of the items on display is a second choice of pieces, dusty and often ask, that you have to try making you way through piles of plates in precarious balance (is there they will put them on purpose hoping that'll drop the whole row?!?). The prices are not so cheap, considering the service, and even when you pay (at this point might also relax!!) not a slightest hint of politeness! Once again a musician who looks like you face a favor! MAh! ... Luckily the stuff sells itself because if it wasn't for them I really don't buy anything! But I say, if you don't feel like it most because it doesn't sell this place wonderful?!?!?

  • I happened to be in Bali before Christmas, and always fascinated by these ceramics, I bought a service to be completed with my dishes of good memories. So far so ok. We paid the full amount with the reassurance of the order of the store that, after Christmas, the service would arrive at their destination. It's been new years, epiphany arrived at Carnival and nothing!!! I called the store that apologizing assured me that past Mardi Gras would be delivered!! On 10 March really mad I again contacted the shop that once fooled me by telling me that by the end of the week after (March 17, 2017) would go over! Needless to say that we are at 25 March and I nn I saw even the shards of the service, which three months ago, I paid! Called again I felt mean that us customers nn we realize they have problems ... more than 2000 orders! So gentlemen, as well as tell you that never will buy pottery Solimene, I ask you to put a hand on my conscience because only we can relieve the company from all the problems that the axle!! NN we buy their pottery so that they may, perhaps, be more correct, honest and loyal to their customers! As far as I'm concerned I will instead write from my lawyer! Shame on you if you work at home!
