Villa Valmarana ai Nani, Vicenza

4.2
Frescos by noted 18th-century painters make Villa Valmarana ai Nani an architectural and artistic gem of Vicenza. Owned by the same family for almost three centuries, the villa is open for guided visits and available for a range of private events, like gala dinners, weddings, photo session, concerts, conferences, and others. Inside, you'll see paintings by the father/son artistic team of Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo. The father's contribution to the villa includes frescoes of mythological subjects, while the son concentrated on rural and carnival scenes. • My judgment obviously goes to the Organization and not to the frescoes whose value is universally known. Once at the guesthouse we meet a man who, when I asked if there were captions within the villa she replies affirmatively. Paid for the ticket of 10 euros and a stretch of path nameless Garden we come in the first room absolutely deserted. We look around and we see no caption. nor indication in the halls. Went down to the lower floor there is a lady who apologizes to us saying that fell to grab coffee and it is you who needs to give us the necessary explanations. Apologies, but the explanation does not arrive. There is simply a nod to one of the frescoes saying that represents us and turn a ' Iphigenia puts together sheets bubble balloons ' very experienced '. To my question about how we treat in theaters, saw that they were not numbered, answer me that, being a private villa, you cannot place any placard. We move in theaters aided by our common sense to understand the scenes depicted. We discover, then, that there is a sensory room in which it is represented a movie. We are going to see it, when we find out that you would have to pay an additional fee. At this point I say not interested to pay more money (I discover from a review that it was ben 6 euros). We end with the visit of the guesthouse where the Lord present intent to call us a booklet with descriptions. We can't see the last room, because access is allowed only from the bar, currently closed. I have read many responses from the holder for the negative comments. All centered on costs that the villa has for them. I can imagine. If, though. decided to open it to the public as is done in other countries must give guests the opportunity to visit it in the best way and not to charge a movie that is accompanying the visit. I visited public and private exhibitions and never, ever, I paid for watching a movie. In conclusion, I believe that should improve the quality of the staff and, if she wants to keep the price of 10 euros (already high for a visit that resolves to a half-ra) make free the tube and put detailed explanations in the halls, avoiding the family portraits that little interest to the visitor.

  • Not easy to achieve because not reported (used an awkward country lane from the nearby "La Rotonda"). Palladian style Villa (not Palladium!) with frescoes by Tiepolo, father and son. Period furniture, literally covered by photographs of the owners of the villa. The admission price (€10.00 per person) is over the top for what is offered. In addition comes a charge of €6.00 per person for the screening of a video about the history of the villa! Best to avoid the bar of the guesthouse.

  • Lovely as it would be your home if you would have chosen Gianbattista Tiepolo as a decorator! Nice little room (full with frescos) in the coffee shop worth a pit stop
  • Villa Valmarana ai Nani at Vicenza...architectural masterpiece by the great architect Padillo, there is a nice discount for the students and professors, they pay only five euro for the ticket. taking pictures is allowed. You can take a coffee also inside or outside the villa, I really recommend you to visit this place.
  • Excellent overall view of contrasting styles of fresco by father and son Tieopolo. The video guide was informative and interesting. There were an unexpected amount of flying beetles indoors that was slightly annoying.
  • Beautiful villa and grounds, wedding on the day of our visit so no admittance. Distance between Rotunda and Valmarana is an easy walk. Guessing no interior photos.
  • Splendid frescoes by Tiepolo. It's close to Villa Almerico Capra .
