  • Banca Intesa continues with its philosophy of exhibitions that do not attract the general public but always worthy of the interest of a slice of fans. The formula and the offer becomes more essential: the project Returns no longer offers dozens of works, restored thanks to the intervention of the Bank, but only one, this time the Church's crucifix vicentina by ARACELI. Around only a series of panels and scientific materials, that allow us to understand the features of the restoration and technical difficulties addressed, is presented on an evocative purple background appropriate to the Lenten period. The work of the late thirteenth century (maybe the Antelami school), at the same time devotional and sign a document artistic past forgotten, certainly the importance of the proposal a few months ago, the Transfiguration of Christ by Bellini. Accompanies him though a legend: originally kept in a church of Alto Vicentino, was roped in by the waters of the river Astico in full which led him intact near alla vicentina Abbey of Saint Vitus (don't know if there's a biblical echo Moses saved from the waters). Upstairs PORTRAIT of town (the Vicenza and Palladio in views of Zaman): actually, it all boils down to two paintings of great artistic value in comparing them with some explanatory panels (and a short video) plus four allegories of the seasons of the same painter (but always deserving is the eighteenth-century Venetian paintings). Pleasant and curious still works (almost a whim because the demographic composition is imaginative and faithful not to exist: Zuccarelli smartness in Vicenza in another scenarios whim with Roundabout preserved in London). Two intriguing aspects to report: who are the three mysterious characters in promo plan? One is identified with PD, the other with Inigo Jones (who inspired by Palladio created the myth in the Anglo-Saxon world) and the last maybe with a client (perhaps Paul Zacharias, master de La Rotonda) or maybe the other architect Vincenzo Scamozzi. The other, more technical, and of local interest, was inspired by the fact that the center of the painting is Monte Berico. Well, a distinguished scholar speculates that this alludes to the clash, in Vicenza by the middle of the 18th century, between two lines of thought about the location of the arcades between March Field and the Basilica (inspired by Francesco Muttoni and Enea Arnaldi, positions backed by Domenico Cerato): prevailed the first, which was made despite the resistance of those who preferred the step from the Arco Scalette.

  • In the heart of Vicenza can observe this permanent exhibition. There are plenty of Russian icons of all shapes and sizes, very nice. The Palace is truly gorgeous, with its frescoes and with the view of downtown from the Windows
