Look to the loggia of Basilica Palladiana to find one of the first examples of what became known as the Palladian window. After the original version of this iconic building partially collapsed, local architect Andrea Palladio was commissioned to rebuild it in 1549. Check inside to see if an exhibition is running or if you can access the bar. To visit Basilica Palladiana on your trip to Vicenza, use our Vicenza route builder app .

  • Shows very well organized; take Van Gogh's life, we see the evolution of his paintings and work. in addition to his paintings of Van Gogh's letters to read many fond brother Theo who has supported both morally and economically. Location very suitable for exhibition.

  • We came to Turin to see this exhibition in the frame of the basilica palladiana. The tour is well structured: the study of Millet and the first drawings until the last painting, it traces the life of the artist and his pictorial evolution according to a chronological path where each room is dedicated to a particular place and the works are accompanied by the letters of Vincent's brother Theo. If the work of Van Gogh fascinates as a whole is worth visiting because many, many studies and paintings on display, but you should not expect to see the most famous paintings like starry night or the potato eaters (of which there is only the study) rimarrebb and disappointed. Inevitable some code for putting the bags and a not exactly quiet because of the considerable influx of people ... certainly shouldn't expect to be able to stay to contemplate a work undisturbed in these contexts hyper advertised! What I don't recommend is buying the audio guide because it does not offer any added value (you could hear things that are written on the panels). Overall I think it's an interesting exhibit but overrated by advertising and for the price (€20). Bookshop rather disappointing.

  • Really impressive, a bit different from the usual Italian Basilicas! Historical monument and Regal, navigate within its walls is a bit like taking a dip back in time!

  • Located at the very centre of Vicenza, the Basilica Palladiana is a fantastic, very impressive Renaissance building. We were amazed by the fantastic artwork, details, colors, quality. Don't forget to visit the tower. The view is fantastic.
  • A fine example of Palladian architecture but also a lovely spot for a memorable aperitivo!
  • Great architecture, history, and charm. A must see.
  • The Basilica Palladiana is a Renaissance building in the central Piazza dei Signori, designed by a young Andrea Palladio and in 2014 it won the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage. It had a quite long restoration period over the past years and they've made a fantastic work both to the restoration of the building and the new lightnings which gives to the structure a gorgeous atmosphere at night. It's now used for temporary art expositions which gather paintings from famous painters from the most well-known museum all over the world (Van Gogh, Monet, e.g.). A very charming and elegant bar has been open on the loggia's roof since last year and it's accessible over the summer period. It's my favourite building in Vicenza and it's definitely worthwhile a visit. I very strongly recommend it.
  • Adults ticket 2 euro, great place to visit, nice view!
