La Lecciona, Viareggio

3.6
#2 of 35 in Outdoors in Viareggio
Surrounded by blue sea and the mountains, La Lecciona remains one of the few Italian beaches still preserved in its natural state. It draws visitors with its dunes covered with restored wetlands, marshes, and pine forests. Pass through a grove to get to this last vestige of the Versilia coast. A campsite located a few hundred meters away from the beach is the only human touch visible in the area. Be careful in the water, since the bare-bones site has no lifeguards or any other type of service available nearby. • Public beach located in San Rossore Park just south of Viareggio. A long stretch of sand invaded by a primitive vegetation as well as prevent erosion gives this wild look. Moreover no receptive structure (bar or similar) is present in the area. The beach is overrun with kindling brought by the tide which are used by patrons to build curtains to protect from the Sun. Water: not great but definitely better than at Viareggio and Marina di Pietrasanta. Nearby perhaps the most beautiful that I found. Definitely get to enough. The beach is just fine by bike, from Viareggio to Torre del Lago, with a beautiful route inside the Park.

  • For years I frequent this beach, today I review: trash in quantity, welcoming the poor, local State of disrepair along the promenade and sense of slovenly nature that you discourage to return. Maybe in winter is better because you expect nothing.

  • This stretch of beach is free and for everyone. Usually, plenty of parking spaces are available. Caution: Disconnect ticket regularly controlled. Pay at vending machines which then enter car (only number). The tickets are Fahrzeugbezogen. The walk to the beach is not really nice. Unfortunately quite much garbage from the sea and from ruthless people is in the back of left behind. The actual beach is very beautiful and the water is clearer than in Viareggio. In the middle of the beach, there is always enough space. The weekend is much while go by trapping but not talk to. Flying dealers offer water, beer, ice, clothing, sunglasses, and other... It is worth to enjoy always this beach...
