La Lecciona, Viareggio
(4.1/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
Surrounded by blue sea and the mountains, La Lecciona remains one of the few Italian beaches still preserved in its natural state. It draws visitors with its dunes covered with restored wetlands, marshes, and pine forests. Pass through a grove to get to this last vestige of the Versilia coast. A campsite located a few hundred meters away from the beach is the only human touch visible in the area. Be careful in the water, since the bare-bones site has no lifeguards or any other type of service available nearby. • The beach is located between Torre del Lago and Viareggio, and is the last resort of Versilia remained free. From an environmental perspective is one of the few stretches of sandy coastline of Tuscany were in their natural state, with characteristic dunes covered with vegetation and woody debris brought by floods of the Serchio. I read that it is considered to be a place for gays. I don't know if it's true, and I don't care. I went with my husband a few days ago, so in October, and there were few people around. A nice walk among trees and nature and then the beach, a corner of paradise. To see

  • Stopped here for a couple of hours on the road to the airport of Bergamo. Give money for paid was sorry and we will be happy to meet with the sea on the beach free of charge. The sand is quite messy, but the sea everywhere the same. So recommend thrifty travelers.

  • The lecciona is in effect the free beach par excellence in Viareggio. Also the area of the "Wall" at a short distance. However space is less, achieve it provides a ingorgarsi of cars and scooters that can make you crazy. For more from this year were taken precautionary measures to avoid excessive traffic jams due to the necessity of passing any ambulances and emergency vehicles, or police. The Council also and above all to those coming from outside to go to the Lecciona, where space is so much that you can even be alone all day. The area is within walking distance from the end of the Marina area directly via the beach or following a path through the trees and then turn right at the first street you want.
