  • La Loggia del Consiglio-Palace Council. Is sometimes called the Loggia FRA Giocondo (on behalf of the Dominican monk who in some versions built and decorated it), but the main version was built by a group of Veronese architects with 1476-1493 gg on Piazza dei Signori. Is considered classic Verona architecture. On the cornice of the building are five statues of famous gentlemen who izvajal Alberto da Milano.

  • Paintings and architecture are amazing, must see!
  • Famous landmark.
  • Is the first example of Renaissance architecture in Italy. On top of the Loggia del Consiglio, the Veronese, proud of his Roman past placed statues of distinguished citizens from Roman times, including the great poet Catullus. To put a warning at the entrance of Verona, Venice had ambitions of the Loggia del Consiglio a plaque with the following inscription: Pro summa fide summus amor. A great love for great fidelity. The Loggia del Consiglio is today the seat of the provincial Council of Verona.

  • Located in the beautiful Piazza dei Signori, opposite the Palazzo del Capitano, the building currently used as the headquarters of the Provincial Council. Erected between 1476 and 1493, it was the first building in Renaissance style entirely built in the Veneto. Its original utility was the serve as headquarters of the City Hall. Its beautiful facade, superbly painted, consists of a portico with eight arches, topped by statues, giving it a great showiness. To the host of an official body only is possible to contemplate it externally, which certainly is worthwhile, even when the environment in which it is located is magnificent.

Where to stay in Verona

The historical center of Verona is packed with famous luxury hotels, which offer all the modern conveniences but also tend to be very expensive and require booking months in advance. If you're a spontaneous traveler visiting on a budget and staying in the central area is not one of your musts, consider checking into a small B&B or family-operated farm just outside the city. Verona's picturesque countryside offers less expensive but comfortable lodgings with good food and friendly hosts, all within a short drive from the bustling city center.
