Chiesa di Sant'Anastasia, Verona

(1,700+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site Church
A monumental church in the center of Verona, Chiesa di Sant'Anastasia is notable for the sculptures both inside and out. The four columns over the high altar display the coat of arms of Castelbarco of Trento, a family who contributed to the building of the church. The funerary monument to Cortesia is one of the renowned sculptures. It portrays the mounted figure of Cortesia holding a commanding wand in front of the sarcophagus. The chapel houses a late Gothic fresco of St. George and the Princess, one of Pisanello's main works, as well as Wilhelm von Bibra's grave. Outside the church, a small, seated sculpture of a hunchback attracts attention because of its expressive face. • From Adige River, we walked to this church. A Gothic Church, the largest church in Verona. Being a Sunday, I didn't want to push my way through to view its interior. Regardless, I had a glimpse from outside, also a detailed look at its architectural features and significant paintings. I guess travelling is synonymous with understanding the history behind this Church. Loved. Well, added value to my travelling knowledge.
  • This church was incredible in side. The art work amazing. You need to pay 2.50 but worth it. I have never seen such a gorgeous inside of a church. The paintings and frescoes out of the world.
  • A must see on your places to visit in Verona. Not so pretty on the outside but a beautifully decorated church on the inside. A vast vaulted ceiling 7 lovely high altar. Look out for the font as you enter the church.
  • I've visited a lot of churches but I always remember this one. The outside doesn't look that great, but the interior is extraordinary. You have to pay to enter which is a shame, but it's definitely worth it so I'd wholeheartedly recommend going.
  • One of the oldest church in Verona with some amazing historical facts.
