Where to stay in Verona

The historical center of Verona is packed with famous luxury hotels, which offer all the modern conveniences but also tend to be very expensive and require booking months in advance. If you're a spontaneous traveler visiting on a budget and staying in the central area is not one of your musts, consider checking into a small B&B or family-operated farm just outside the city. Verona's picturesque countryside offers less expensive but comfortable lodgings with good food and friendly hosts, all within a short drive from the bustling city center.

  • No trip to Verona would be complete with a walk to the Arco Dei Gavi. Built by the Gavi family back in the day (100 AD) this arch was the entrance to the old Roman city. It was moved next to the museu...  more »
  • Lovely view of the river and great place to take photos. There are a couple of places to sit and a grassy area as well. The view of the bridge is beautiful and then after visiting, you can have a walk...  more »

  • 2000 year old Roman arch rebuilt after Napoleon destroyed it out of "arch-envy". The Veronese hid all of the stones and faithfully rebuilt it after he disappeared out of the scene. The least you can do is walk around it while you eat your Gelato.
  • If you're interested in arches, but can't go to Paris, check out the Arco dei Gavi, it's Verona's 'Arc de Triomphe.'
  • Very cool little piece of history. Make sure to check out the tracks from horse carriages many hundred years ago!
  • Incredible landmark ark dated back to some thousand years ago .
  • My bus stop was opposite so I would marvel at it everyday. Pretty extraordinary!
