  • As soon as you arrive at Acaya is perceived for the charm of this small village guardian of centuries of history; Acaya is a rare example of a fortified city, with orthogonal mesh road scheme existing in Southern Italy in the 16th century. The impressive work that transformed the old village of Segine, later renamed Acaya from her family's name, was created, strengthened and tidied urban military architect Gian Giacomo Acaya's from 1521 to 1535. The magnificent Castle, dating from 1535/36, has a trapezoidal structure surrounded by walls and a moat and a rectangular shape can be considered one of the finest examples of defensive architecture of Renaissance Terra d'Otranto: this military establishment is a gem and is definitely worth a visit, with the sympathy and the preparation of guides to whom I applaud for the kindness and competence shown.

  • This medieval castle was a positive surprise, taking in the scenery was beautiful, and the Castle environment interesting. The small town of Acaya is worth a stroll, with its grid-based gatumönster.

  • Acaya is a small village with a quaint old town: Castle encloses with its walls a large square. Inside are often set up exhibitions and meetings
