An integral piece of the Cinque Terre region, Vernazza is perhaps the most preserved example of a true Italian fishing village. Admire Mediterranean and harbor views from the city's 15th-century hilltop castle. Wander the town's cobbled streets, lined with stone churches, pastel-colored homes, and ornate buildings. You can only get around town on foot, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The climb to the summit may be difficult for people with mobility issues. Put Vernazza and other Cinque Terre attractions into our Cinque Terre visit planner , and watch your holiday take shape.

Where to stay in Cinque Terre
Each of the five villages offer plenty of options--typically guesthouses or bed and breakfasts housed in brightly colored houses offering views over the water. If you want to explore Cinque Terre over several days, spend the first night in Riomaggiore--the most accessible of the five villages--then stay in Corniglia or Vernazza on your second night. That way, you can explore Manarola and Monterosso on day trips. You'll struggle to find budget accommodations in Cinque Terre, so expect to pay a premium and plan ahead.
