Vernazza, Vernazza

An integral piece of the Cinque Terre region, Vernazza is perhaps the most preserved example of a true Italian fishing village. Admire Mediterranean and harbor views from the city's 15th-century hilltop castle. Wander the town's cobbled streets, lined with stone churches, pastel-colored homes, and ornate buildings. You can only get around town on foot, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The climb to the summit may be difficult for people with mobility issues. Put Vernazza and other Cinque Terre attractions into our Cinque Terre visit planner , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • A small village built on a cliff. Colorful houses, winding alleys. Adjacent to the sea. We enjoyed to wander, explore the red-marked path to high vantage point. The people are nice and respectful.

  • After seeing her for a long time in photos, I decided to go to visit it and a picture of it, being an amateur landscape photographer. The 5 terre VERNAZZA in this case have not lived up to expectations, the blue hour despite the weather not just excellent and not really suitable was treated to beautiful shots! To visit absolutely! It can be reached from La Spezia by train, one every hour or so, very well connected!

Where to stay in Cinque Terre

Each of the five villages offer plenty of options--typically guesthouses or bed and breakfasts housed in brightly colored houses offering views over the water. If you want to explore Cinque Terre over several days, spend the first night in Riomaggiore--the most accessible of the five villages--then stay in Corniglia or Vernazza on your second night. That way, you can explore Manarola and Monterosso on day trips. You'll struggle to find budget accommodations in Cinque Terre, so expect to pay a premium and plan ahead.
