Villa Taranto, Verbania

(1,300+ reviews on the web)
Garden Nature / Park
Designed and established by Scotsman Neil McEacharn, Villa Taranto is home to more than 3,000 plant species. You'll see 300 different types of dahlias, plus azaleas, and Victorian Amazonian greenhouses. The garden's villa has been renovated into government offices that are closed to the public, but you can still admire the outer facade's Victorian artifice. The manicured lawn and fountains outside the villa are free to roam, as are the rest of the 16 hectares (40 acres) of elegant gardens. Put Villa Taranto on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Verbania family vacation planner.

  • I liked it. Very well maintained, absolutely a nice place for a beautiful walk. (there was some classical music played via speakers, and in my - and my family - opinion it was a bit too loud)
  • Beautiful gardens, well laid out with lovely plants, some quite unusual. Really friendly team throughout. Beats Isola Madre...
  • Probably the best gardens i have visited. Loads of flowers nicely laid out and an easy walk or wheel chair. Cafe part way round and bar/food at the start/finish.
  • Noy a big garden fan...but this place was magnificent. On a jot day it still had sparkle.
  • Nice botanical gardens but in many different countries there is no entrance fee for botanical gardens. Here it is 10€. This is too much
