Experience was impressive. The rooms dedicated to the artist are few but the sculptures of great quality and able to convey strong emotions. We recall in particular the sketch for the War Memorial in Pallanza and busts of famous people of the era. Recommend a visit to this space also, unfortunately, run by volunteers.show original

Landscape Museum possesses these sculptures was the same troubetzkoy wanting to donate the works in his two studies at the time of his death in 1938. in the way you can admire the busts and figures-sometimes at the natural size or slightly larger but more often reduced in size as the artist liked to portray his subjects into figurines to keep at home, in the living rooms. -showcasing celebrities who entertained relations of friendship with the sculptor or anonymous clients: among them the painter segantini, gabriele D'Annunzio, the Greek politician venizelos, the writer bernard shaw, as well as the wife and mother of troubetzkoy. two sections are devoted to subjects from him best: the children, sometimes depicted with their playmates at 4 paws and women, another in its Russian stay between 1898 and 1905 with portraits of various characters of the aristocracy and the sketch of the monument to Tsar Alexander III and the last to monuments made in verbania in honor of Senator cadorna and the War Memorial and the sketches of the garibaldi monument , then. the tour ends with the reproduction of his study, with sculptures placed next to each other on the shelves that occupy half the room, as can be seen from the analysis of old photos of him. in the first room are on display in a showcase about 20 photos of troubetzkoy and his family as well as a newspaper article in which he celebrates his decision to become a vegetarian, a choice that will carry on with conviction until his death and dedicated to the Russian period in another showcase are presented a dozen vintage newspaper articles that speak of the inauguration of the monument dedicated to the Tsar with horse picture used as model-actually belonged to Alexander III. in every room an information panel very simple and well done-in Italian and English-introduces the section explaining various aspects of the life and work of troubetzkoy, from its formation to the technique used, the favorite subjects to the characters he met and photographed. dominated by the chalk but there are bronze sculptures. the lighting and the set up is simple and at the same time really well designed, especially in the Hall of the great monument to garibaldi, where the soft light allows you to fully enjoy the work over 3 meters allowing you to read without problems at the same time the 3 boards. highly recommended this shows that costs 4 €, free for subscription holders and visiting museums in about an hour, an hour and a quarter. the visit also continues on the outside as the entrance also provides a map showing the location of 6 of the works of troubetzkoy on the surrounding areas. 4 of these are truly close to the Museum. going down to the bottom of the street is on the left the monument to cadorna and a few metres further along the lakefront to the War Memorial and the doctor and Mayor of pallanza giuseppe cavanna. at villa giulia, in front of the mansion used for temporary exhibitions and events, lies the bust dedicated to toscanini who had his summer home on Lake maggiore. is about 500 meters from the Museum. the other two busts are located at suna, walkable-to fund the Museum's street you turn right-about 1 km along the Lake and the other on the opposite side, intra, near the bridge over the River, always along the Lake. even now you can walk but there are about 45 minutes away. are about 3 km, 3 km away. I've done and it's not tiring. the view of the Lake and of the villas is truly exceptional. halfway is the entrance to villa taranto, historic botanical garden. the two busts are respectively of doctor Alexander cuzzi, who taught obstetrics at the University of Turin and founded magazines and newspapers devoted to this branch of medicine and the painter daniele ranzoni, mentor of troubetzkoy, who drew back on several occasions family and his home on Lake maggiore. the paper provided by the Museum at the back explains in brief who are the characters portrayed in the various monuments.
