  • Entry into the Cathedral of Venzone, already very nice on the outside, jaw-dropping awesomeness of the place, for works of art which conserves and moving and passionate work of reconstruction which allowed, ten years after the earthquake, to recover an important historical value, civic and religious. The restorations carried out anastylosis has allowed the recovery of all the original material can be re-used and its correct relocation, thanks to the skilful cataloguing, already in the first days after the collapse, stones and architectural elements fallen on the ground. His visit was one of the most exciting moments of my trip in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

  • Visited after reconstruction after the 1976 earthquake. They cataloged 8000 stones and slide as they were. Exceptional work. Well done!

  • I was a boy, in May 1976, like so many others. The earthquake, on the plain, he felt, cleanly, but caused no damage nor casualties. I still remember the images of Venzone, then, that autumn, after the earthquake of September, if I'm not mistaken. Sometimes, like today, September 11, 2016, I like this place and going back, immediately, in the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. It is a place that gives me peace that calms me, that reconciles my spirit with the aura that you perceive, with terrible energy and power that still resonates and lives among and in the ancient stones. I'm not a believer, but I go not to the sacred with impunity, but with a respect that comes from my childhood, from my education, Catholic. I know that here the hands that in a large contemporary sculpture, wooden, who rise to heaven, saved the Cathedral, also have been able to do more. They bend to their land and collected rocks, stones, statues and altars, fragments of marble and plaster, wood and rubble and rebuilt, with touching strength with desperate humility. This place is not like others, dumb and dull. Here Christ in the apse, in nudity only made of light, is a man who became fully and consciously such by virtue of pain and suffering. As it happens, often, for many of us, on this bare ground.
