  • Was very fast due to the caretaker's courtesy visit alas which allowed us to enter despite same closing. Well, the Interior, in Romanesque-early Christian, is really wonderful. Seems to have been built in the 5th century a.d. and was chosen by time as a national monument. Hosts among other things the graves of members of Altavilla on which dominates a beautiful fresco. The Abbey is also known as the "old church" to distinguish it from the new unfinished that the tile. It seems that if the new Church had been finished the old one was demolished. So tells the guardian. It would be a mortal sin.

  • The complex of the Holy Trinity was recognized as a national monument since 1897. The Church was built in the same place where in ancient times, there was a pagan temple dedicated to Hymen, the complex of the Holy Trinity is one attraction that includes two churches. The early Church, otherwise called the old church dates back to the early Christian era and was later modified and restored both during the Lombard period that Norman. The Church inside houses the tomb of the family Altavilla and wife repudiated by Robert Guiscard, Aberada. The new Church, otherwise called unfinished Church, was begun between the 11th and 12th with the intent to expand the Church old, using materials taken from the Roman Amphitheater, but its construction was never completed.

  • It would be more appropriate to speak of a complex, since it includes the ancient Church (adjacent to the Benedictine Abbey), and the "new Church" also known as "unfinished". The origins of the basilica are ancient, dating to the 5th-6th century, where previously there was a pagan temple dedicated to hymen. In 1059, Robert Guiscard, wanted the Church to be the shrine of Altavilla and transferred the bodies of his 3 brothers (later he also buried here), as well as those of his first wife, Alberada. The site is full of frescoes and is clearly visible on the floor of the Church of the 8th century. Too bad the fresco from the tomb of Altavilla was being restored.
