Torre dell'Orologio, Venice
(4.5/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
A distinctive feature of the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Torre dell'Orologio keeps time on an early Renaissance building over the Merceria entrance. In the 15th century, this was strategically placed high above the piazza so travelers looking into the city from the lagoon could recognize Venice's wealth and innovation. In the lower two floors of the clock tower, an archway connects the political center and commercial centers of the city. • We took a guided tour of 16, and winter coincided with the sunset: breathtaking landscapes without major obstacles on Piazza San Marco and all of Venice. Very interesting to hear the explanation about the history of the watch and see the changes that have taken place over time. For kids, beautiful experience but only starting from a minimum age of 6 years.

  • Very interesting guided tour of the clock tower, which allowed us to appreciate the history of this wonderful timepiece and the mechanisms that regulate it. Shame about the rain that we weren't permitted to climb on the terrace of the famous Mori

  • Charming clock tower that has two people that strike the bell on the hour, excellent to see this as it is an engineering Marvell again. This is something that you would miss if you didn't know it was ...  more »

  • This place was a part of museum pass. I am sure it was nice inside. Unfortunately we could not get inside as it is for prearranged tours only. Although building is on St. Marks square there is a tiny door leading inside the museum that is not easy to spot. It's across the American bistro.
  • The first digital clock ever created. The tower is grandiose and impressive. Must see in Venice.
  • Very unique and interesting clock that is worth checking out if you're in the area. Make sure to catch it on the hour for the chimes.
  • Interesting interior and a vantage point for taking pictures.
  • Interesting tour of the Clock Tower with a description of its history and breathtaking view from the top. Would be nice if the tour would also include the description of its workings.
