Squero di San Trovaso, Venice
(4.5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
One of the few dry docks in Venice, Squero di San Trovaso attracts many with its traditional gondola repair service. Watch the gondolas drift by while enjoying a snack from one of the small tapas restaurants that line the square. You may even get a chance to see a traditional wooden gondola being built by hand. The boatyard offers travelers a trip on a bragozzo, a traditional fishing boat from the 18th or 19th century, down the lagoon of Venice. If you are traveling with a group of 25 or more, tours can be booked to visit inside the boatyard, where you'll witness exquisite craftsmanship. • But you see how they repair them from the other side of the channel, it is worth walking here. There were few people. If you stop to think, is as if were to see as working your mechanical, curious, although for them must of be a nuisance. Advisable to go.

  • Two steps away from Ca ' Bembo, many times as a student I was at browser and I was glad that this magical place remains in a Venice that has changed a lot. One of the symbols of Venice is the gondola this boatyard near the gallerie dell'Accademia should be seen while it lasts.

  • The gondola is worth a visit, the Dolomites in the early 17th built probably century workers out, hence the "Alpine look". Some nacelles are always here, very interesting to watch. Unfortunately the title photo here is the Church of San Trovaso, the shipyard is a black wooden house.

  • With a starting price of €35,000 (around €45,000 when pimped out) for a new gondola, you can only appreciate the effort that justifies the price by visiting the factory (calling this a factory feels like a disservice - they are craftsmen).
  • If you ever wondered what a gondola shipyard looks like, here you have it! You can only see it from across the canal, but anyway it is a quaint place that deserves a very short visit.
  • simply fascinating to watch how this icon (the gondola) of venice is built.
  • Interesting gondola workshop.
