Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, Venice

(4.7/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Founded in the 13th century, Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista once contained artworks by Tintoretto, Bastiani, Bellini, and Carpaccio. One of the city's oldest "scuole," institutions that served as patrons of the arts, the building now serves as an elegant and historic space for special events, like concerts and weddings. Check the website for events held there during your visit, or stop by on your tour of Venice to take a few photos and admire medieval architecture. Across the street, a deconsecrated church still holds one of Tintoretto's works, signed and dated in 1626. • Carrying a half-round on the outside of the hotel opposite the building of the Church with the same failures of the carved gates. Never seen so much only not connected to these, building facades, interesting thought. In the Church of the left hand is under construction. Building of the credit portfolio is limited internal tours you can date and schedule had been posted.

  • Although the marble Portal is, perhaps, the most famous picture of the Scuola di San Giovanni, the building of Codussi encloses real masterpieces of Venetian art, although not reaching the lofty levels of the nearby Scuola di San Rocco. Highly recommended-so-a visit within a tour of the different "Schools" of the times of the Republic of Venice.
