Ponte di Rialto, Venice

Categories: Bridges, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.6/5 based on 8,000+ reviews on the web
Overlook the Grand Canal from one of Venice's most important landmarks, Ponte di Rialto. Anchoring the historic city center, the iconic bridge is an example of 16th-century architecture, with two steep ramps meeting to form an uncharacteristically high arch of 7.5 m (25 ft). Take a traditional gondola tour of the canal to admire the historic structure from the water. You also can stand in the archways of Venice's oldest canal bridge. • We took a water taxi from airport to the Venice island. One of it's stop (the main one) was "Ponte di Rialto". We arrived Venice in midnight, so we could not see buildings very well. When we got off t...  read more »
  • Unfortunately, the bridge is just veiled as it is restored. The huge advertising on the bridge is very ugly! I hope that you soon again shines in its former glory!

  • Bridge was being renovated, so covered with scaffolding. This is fine as these things do need maintenance, but what is absolutely not acceptable is covering the bridge with a giant advert for Diesel. It spoils the experience for people who may only ever get to visit Venice once and smacks of the city having sold itself out to some overprices jeans manufacturer.
  • The Rialto Bridge offers fantastic views over the Grand Canal. Beautiful place to walk in the evening to watch the canal churning with boats of all sizes, including the famous gondolas.
  • One side of the bridge was undergoing maintenance during my visit and was unfortunately covered up with an image of the bridge. This is however understandable given that maintenance is required to keep the bridge in good condition. The bridge was very nice during the evening as I passed it on the water bus. Highly recommend option for a cost effective tour of the canal.
  • I visited there in June 2014. Read that it is being renovated as of 2016. A must visit in Venice. Great architecture with amazing views from both sides if the bridge. I would recommend to visit there during the day as well as during night to witness the colors of Venice from the Rialto bridge.
  • Very busy and full of tourists. Also, currently under construction, so it is hard to enjoy the view, as some areas of the bridge are currently closed. But if you can get to the sides of the bridge and enjoy the view, it is worth it. One of the more picturesque views in Venice.
