  • Located in the Campo San Geremia, next to the Church of the same name, is a sumptuous palace built between 1685 and 1720, in the midst of a crisis, and when in Venice is just already built palaces. It belonged to the Labia family, Catalan merchants who settled in Venice in the 16th century and were recognized as noble after paying taxes to finance the war of Crete. It is of Baroque style and inside there is a sumptuous Ballroom decorated by Tiepolo in 1746 with scenes from the life of Cleopatra. Today it is seat of the RAI in the Veneto and is not open to the public.

  • a few years ago it was possible to visit this wonderful Palace for free, it was enough to call a week ahead and give his name by specifying the number of visitors and we could get there on Thursday at 14: 00. The tour was very interesting with anecdotes about the Labbia who display their wealth by throwing all their dishes price in the channel at the rear of the Palace at the end of the receptions (even if the gossips said that there are fishing nets at the bottom of the channel they were late at night). "Their motto was:" I (abbia) or not I will always be a Labbia, so a play on words on their surname... and above all we could admire the frescos of Tiepolo at the peak of his art. That of Cleopatra on the first floor left speechless all visitors. I have recent reviews to see if we can still visit it!
