The museum has only two openings a day (we were only four on this tour, so I can understand), however even if you get there first you can enjoy a beautiful view and a bit of tranquility on the island immersed in nature. The museum (full cost 6th, reduced 4.50. Payment only in cash plus 10 euros ferry round trip) is very interesting and clear, I recommend it.

Warning: The tour takes place twice a day, outside of time the museum is closed. The guide was friendly and at pains, but hardly speaks English, the accompanying texts of the very interesting exhibition are Italian and German. It is pleasant that the exhibition is completely outside of mass tourism!
Worth the visit and very reasonable entry fee. Interesting and obscure history to make a trip to venice really unique and see a part of venice not many visitors see.
This museum is certainly interesting but is quite small and didn't quite meet my expectations. I would recommend avoiding it unless you are into science or mental health facilities and if you've seen most of what the main part of Venice has to offer. It contains 2 main hallways and a few small rooms with limited pictures of the place when it was in use. There are some instruments and equipment that seems original with some information about it in Italian and most of the time English as well (some minor things are only in Italian, a good opportunity for Google Lense). I was expecting a creepy vibe or things to be set up as they used to be when the institution was functioning but this wasn't the case at all. Instead, items and pictures were on display with information. There were 2 rooms (operating rooms and pharmacy) that the employee led us to and opened separately. I would make sure to see the operation room at least. It had an operating table as well as real human skulls and brains on display. The creepiest room of the entire museum! The pharmacy was a cool little room to briefly look at but not incredibly interesting. You can get here pretty easily and quickly (15 minutes) by vaporetto (public ferry). Buy your return tickets before arriving because the machine for tickets on the island was broken. You buy tickets for the museum downstairs and then enter upstairs. Not sure if they take credit card, I used cash.
Unlike what it says in the other review I found the museum open Saturday and Sunday. Via Museum advertised very little. The island is very beautiful and at first there is a great Conference and the church building. Climbing the stairs you can enter the Museum consisting of 3/4 small rooms. Time to visit the Museum will be half an hour. But it gives a good idea of what they were doing. Rather than usual around Venice Council to make a turn here.
Small museum but in my opinion very interesting. Too bad that visiting hours are not quite so easy, given that on Saturdays and Sundays the Museum is closed. The existence of this museum should be advertised more
On is located in the famous island of San Servolo. A place of peace in itself. Cared for and well maintained with bar and canteen open to all. Normal prices. Headquarters of international university. Green spaces. And Museum of Madness with guided tour of the Pharmacy and library. Great illustrations on how the asylum was and instruments of contingencies. The 15 minutes in vaporetto to get there seem to detach you from the World.
