  • I'm so happy me and my husband stopped in here! I was pleasantly surprised by the very large collection of Japanese pieces from swords to paintings on silk, but what I found most fascinating was the r...  more »
  • .... except for the usual lack of state funds, the display of the pieces started in old storefronts that would be enough to change the glass with an anti-reflective one to see something. I do not say to buy the latest generation of museum exhibitors with stabilized microclimate and cold led lighting system (UV free) as they have the most important museums in Japan, but at least of the very simple anti-reflection and beam shielding glass to allow for a slightly more usable ambient light. However, I agree when it comes to keeping the preservation of the works in a dim environment as a priority until more suitable means are available. The beauty of Japanese llackeys lies in the micro details depictive... almost impossible to appreciate in such conditions.... it's a shame. The quality of the works on display is very varied and includes some pieces of the highest quality. Perhaps the amount of works in the showcase is also too much, at the limit of assembly. It would be better to lighten the number (some pieces are of little artistic interest) valuing the best elements with good exposure (perhaps with turnover programs of the works). It would be enough to copy as do the best museums in the world nowadays... here we are at the Middle Ages of exhibition culture. Suffice it to say that it is the only collection in the world that does not yet have a catalogue of works... Cursed funds... Beyond these small flaws the Museum and its collection is worth a trip.

  • I am a fan of Japanese llacches and finally find in an Italian museum a bit of "bread for my teeth". The low lights are necessary not to ruin the precious llacles collected by Henry of Bourbon in 1888-89, that is, the ideal period to buy weapons and objects from the feudal families and samurai, who at the time were in great difficulty. Those who think it is an over-specialized museum should think again, the objects in lacquer represented, from the '500 until the reopening of Japan outside (1855), the most requested artifacts by the European courts, and these objects make us understand why. Samurai-loving children will be more than satisfied, with hundreds of weapons and armor on display.

  • Great museum with a lot of items displayed. Worth a visit if you like Oriental art...
  • I have never seen such refined examples of oriental art! Also, the Ca' Pesaro palace is a wonderfully boroque building, the white stone simply shines on the Grand Canal, exemplifying venetian glamour.
  • I liked it there. Idk about you tho
  • A great collection of oriental art and chinese army equipment
  • A museum located in the Ca Pesaro palace. To get there by vaporetto you should get off pn St Stae and follow the signs to Ca Pesaro. Be sure to ask in the museum if the Asiatic collection is open. If you want to take a lift asked for it during buying tickets. The lift is accesible only on demand. The collectiom is truly outstanding - weapon, ceramic, boxes, jewellery. There are not many paintings or other artistic objects. The collection mainly comes from Japan. Rather you have their things daily used by nobility. The exhibition is nicely organized. 3 rooms are only open on indicated hours. Be sure to not miss them! The tickets grants you access to other exhibitions. I am not a fan of modern art so I won't tell you about them. Some of them are temporary. There is a Klimt painting. After museum it's good to try the cafe. If it's warm you can sit on the terrace which seems to lie on the canal. If not - theinterior is cosy and warm. Coffee and croissants excellent! You can takr photos there but without flesh and it's rather dark because of objects' vulnerabililty to light.
