Lido, Venice
(3.9/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
The site of the Venice Film Festival, Lido runs 11 km (7 mi) along northern Italy but is separated from the mainland by a strip of water. The sandbar island is home to 20,000 Venetian residents and a handful of casinos and hotels. Many of the hotels are near a wide beach along the Adriatic Sea. This spot inspired Thomas Mann's novel "Death in Venice." The sandbar, now a tourist haven, once was home to the doge of Venice, as well as to one of the first settlements in the region. Check out British traveler writer Robin Saikia's history of the island in "The Venice Lido" for a comprehensive overview of the island's history. • The lido, at least in winter, survives thanks to Venice, locals try to emulate or even make competition to what lies on the other side of the shore, but unfortunately for them, there is no comparison!

  • It was a romantic journey through the water on a beautiful island. It has everything for a relaxing stay, including relative silence, serenity and wonderful beaches.

  • When travelling to Venice always you think of its canals and monuments, which is obviously its great and amazing appeal. But if you are traveling in the summer you can come also to the Lido Beach. Located opposite the large lagoon as an almost natural barrier. Accessed with the ubiquitous bus boats. The environment is similar to the of a Spanish tourist resort in the Mediterranean. Both day and che is not a very good option. But watch out for mosquitoes if you go at night. There as well as all the channels your presence is in number infinite and you eat live...
