Where to stay in Venice

Save money and avoid tourist crowds by booking your accommodation outside the historical center of Venice. Central Venice is full of picturesque canals and narrow lanes, but it is also extremely noisy and hectic throughout the day and late into the night. You can explore the ancient city's charms at your own pace by staying at a comfortable B&B or small hotel located in the city's residential suburbs. To stay close to the finest beaches and restaurants, check into a hotel on the island of Lido, the city's famous seaside resort.

  • The decor was good although due to the prices everyone seemed to have one drink and move on which meant it lacked atmosphere. But the drinks were really good.  more »

  • Unique place which we thought we needed to go to. My honest opinion? Don't bother. This place is living off past glories. Overpriced for sure. Bellini was pretty ordinary and @€21 we felt def. used and abused. If you like feeling used and abused you'll love Harry's Venice. If you are smart you will avoid!!
  • It's a classy bar, frequented by literary types back in the old days (Hemingway!). There is an overt air of pretentiousness here and the Bellini, while incredible, was 22 Euro. Not exactly quaint. Worth stopping in for. The bartender we encountered was very friendly. Wouldn't necessarily return, but worth a stop in, especially if you'd like to experience that old-time feel.
  • Impeccable service by white-coated waiters and good food. It is a historic place with great people watching. Dinner prices are quite high. You must at least stop at the bar for a drink in the afternoon. Long pants are required for all gentlemen.
  • Before going into Harry's Bar and dropping €50 on a couple drinks (which you will) or quite a bit more on dinner, first reflect on why you're doing so. If it's mostly because your guidebook tells you to do so, you'll be disappointed. If you're dressed like you just wandered in off a cruise ship, the staff may treat you accordingly. If you're a big Hemingway fan, you should do it once, despite the price. If you're someone who appreciates old school service once in a while and are happy to pay for it, you will like it. If you're of the jet set, you probably aren't reading Google reviews anyhow, and may already be there. For the record, my group of 3 went in today at 6 for late afternoon cocktails, which was a good time to go, we were seated right away at a good table in the bar. The service was excellent, the Bellinis were tasty, and yes, someone from a wealthy old family was sitting next to me.
  • Don't believe the overly critical reviews. This place is top-notch. Excellent food and superior service. One of the best in the world!
