  • Paul stands on St. Mark's square on aboard the old Patron Saint of Venice. I thought it interesting but is unsure of the Patron Saint is Saint Mark's former patron saint, Saint Teodoro, old and new, experts say.

  • Better visit it by day in the sunshine where you can admire its beauty and magnificence.

  • For those coming from the sea, the two columns constitute the monumental access to the square. Are marble and are the two patron saints of the city: San Marco, represented by a lion, his symbol, is a bronze sculpture of probable Greek origin; San Teodoro is depicted in the Act of killing a dragon: the bust of the Saint is of Roman origin, while Halo, legs and arms are probably from the medieval period. The two columns are perhaps the spoils of some war waged in the East. Tradition has it that the space between the two columns was used as a place for executions; for this reason the Venetians not through; tourists do not definitely know the story and use it as background for pictures. Beautiful and full of history.

  • Beautiful edge of the square overlooking the sea. Many gondolas are stored here. Great pictures can be taken of surrounding islands and sunset is amazing!
  • Beautiful and iconic column. Makes a beautiful picture if the light is right.
  • I can't believe St. Theodore depicted on of the columns wasn't good enough to be the patron of Venice :) Must see in Venice. The view is spectacular.
  • Simply great place to visit...
  • A lovely place, very vibrant.
