For those who really want to live the life of the Venetians! the best way is to stop in campo San Giacomo: among the children playing, the grandmothers with the attendants, the carts of goods that pass, families who find themselves, feel the heart beat of Venice. Then in the evening the magic of ancient lights in a quiet area yet will make you dream!

  • Nice and unusual church, with a mixture of styles. In the center of Santa Croce, which still maintains a characteristic and not too touristic atmosphere!
  • I've lived here 20 years ago. Still nice!
  • pretty
  • Situated in a quiet corner of the sestiere di Santa Croce, this church not is too much frequented by tourists that undoubtedly gives it a greater charm. Founded in the 9th century, is one of the oldest churches in Venice. During the 1903 restoration works, were discovered outside the Church the remains of a circular building, possibly a baptistery, very similar to the Basilica of San Marcos. Its interior is characterized by the presence of several architectural styles, result of different interventions carried out over the years. It highlights the ceiling, Gothic, keel of boat-shaped. Houses various artworks of Palma the young, Pittoni and Zugno, among others, highlighting those that are preserved in the sacristy: again we find works by Palma the young along with Titian and Veronese the. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 10.30 to 16.30 hours. It is closed on Sundays. The entry price is €3 adults and €1,50 reduced ticket. It can be accessed with the Chorus Pass, which for €12 the full ticket €8 reduced ticket or €24 the family ticket, allows us to access 18 churches dependent on the Patriarchate of Venice.

Where to stay in Venice

Save money and avoid tourist crowds by booking your accommodation outside the historical center of Venice. Central Venice is full of picturesque canals and narrow lanes, but it is also extremely noisy and hectic throughout the day and late into the night. You can explore the ancient city's charms at your own pace by staying at a comfortable B&B or small hotel located in the city's residential suburbs. To stay close to the finest beaches and restaurants, check into a hotel on the island of Lido, the city's famous seaside resort.
