  • my interest in this church was especially has the presence of the magnificent work (London?) of Michele Giambono currently at the Accademia for a temporary exhibition (exciting) on this contemporary of Vivarini painter (Antonio) and like him one of the masters of the Gothic, there is also to see other palas, Palma giovane in this church or of Tintoretto etc... This church is very little frequented yet access is easy

  • Situated in the Dorsoduro district, its name is a contraction of San Gervasio and San Protasio. It has the particularity of having two almost identical facades. According to tradition, they served to keep separate the rival factions of the Castellani and Nicolotti, when both attended the Church on the occasion of the celebration of the Saints, in order to avoid fights. The current church was consecrated in 1657. Although it is not the most spectacular of the city, in its interior features several works by Tintoretto, Palma IL Giovane and other authors. Open Monday to Saturday from 14.30 to 17.30 hours. The entrance is free.

  • The Church of San Trovaso (contraction of Saints gervasius and protasius) with its two nearly identical facades for some time now is no longer attributed to Palladio. It is not very crowded which is unfortunate. Saturday, it was just the two of us inside while we saw dozens and dozens of people on the other side of the rio ferme photographing the squero close, none of that large group is then entered into the Church during the 40 minutes of our stay. Visit a church in Venice is like visiting every time a Hall of the Academy, but this concerns only a few. Inside no masterpiece but valuable works by Giandomenico Tiepolo, Jacopo and Domenico Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane, Rosalba Carriera, Michele Giambono. In the chancel furnishings are attributed to Brustolon. In the right transept a beautiful bas-relief by Tullio Lombardo. It is one of the churches that you will always be sure of finding open.
