Artigianato d'Arte di Vianello Mauro, Venice

(4.8/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Artisan glassmaker Mauro demonstrates his artistry by appointment at Artigianato d'Arte di Vianello Mauro. His artworks are for sale, too. If you buy a piece, the cost of your demonstration ticket will be deducted from the price of the object. This gregarious, passionate artist must let the piece made at the demonstration dry for one day, so be prepared to return to pick it up. Please make your appointment at least two weeks in advance via email. No more than five people can attend at a time. To get to the tiny shop and studio, go through the Campo San Cassan, staying parallel to the Grand Canal. Put Artigianato d'Arte di Vianello Mauro into our Venice trip itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • There are glass shops everywhere in Venice. But this is by far the best one. Mauro travels around the world making glass and you can book a private show to watch him for only 25 Euros. My girlfriend a...  more »

  • I had the pleasure of watching this Artist in his atelier and was delighted with his work. It is so refreshing to see something other than the typical tourist demonstrations. This Artist works magic with glass; he makes it seem effortless but I am certain that hundreds of hours have gone into perfecting each life form he creates and achieving the colours that make these pieces so lifelike. His atelier is not large but it is a feast for the eyes and worth the effort of arranging a visit. . I will definitely go back again when next I am in Venice.
  • I had the opportunity to visit Mauro Vianello's store and studio where I could admire up close a beautiful collection of excellent marine glass art made by hand by a master craftsman. Mauro's most accommodating and pleasant demeanor made us feel welcome. He is engaging and passionate of his art and transmits that love to his customers. I highly recommend that you make a point of stopping in to visit his studio/store and meet the man personally. It will be an unforgettable experience not to be missed.
  • I visited my wife and daughter, and order 2 pizzas for taking out. Staff asked me my 20month daughter have pizza? of course 'Yes' . Then Staff told me ' small pizza.....' but I could not listen what she said. We found that extra small pizza for my daughter free in the box at the hotel. I could not say thank you but do not forget this memory and tell my daughter about this story someday!
  • This is an experience not to be missed. Mauro is a true glass-master with a penchant for educating people on the magic of glass-making. He's especially apt at adapting his explanations to the audience (including kids) and explaining how his work comes to life one step at a time. The objects he makes are mostly sea creatures as Mauro has deep knowledge of sea-life and spends innumerable hours trying to re-create to perfection even the most complex life forms. Overall a superb experience for both novice and amateurs - I highly recommend it.
  • Very fun talking to owner and watching him make things with glass. Make an appointment so he can give you a good tour or stop in but he may not be able to accommodate as well.
